Berglind María Tómasdóttir’s new solo flute album, Ethereality, was released during the summer of 2021. The works on the album are by her close collaborators Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Carolyn Chen, Clint McCallum, Tryggvi M. Baldvinsson and Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir. As well as performing all the pieces on flute and bass flute, Tómasdóttir also wrote one of the pieces. The album is now available on streaming services such as Spotify and Bandcamp.
Recording, mixing and mastering was done by Bergur Þórisson (Hugar, musical director for Björk). Recordings took place in Akranes Lighthouse, Skipholt 31 and Laugarásvegur 23, Reykjavík. Graphic design is by Júlía Runólfsdóttir and digital distribution is through INNI.
A series of videos were made for a few of the pieces in November and December 2020 in the lighthouse Akranesviti. The videos can be found on Tómasdóttir’s Vimeo page and below. The sound was done by Bergur Þórisson and Erlendur Sveinsson made the videos. The video series is in collaboration with Verpa eggjum and supported by the Icelandic Music Fund.
